In June of 2022 D&B Construction began renovations to the façades of two of Berkshire Mall West’s tenants: One of its anchors, T.J. Maxx, and its latest addition – Designer Shoe Warehouse, which was previously an A.C. Moore. This work was completed for our client, Allied Properties, and also included pedestrian and vehicular traffic control as part of the scope of work for this project. Construction took place on T.J. Maxx while still open to the public. The shopping center was built in 1972, so this exterior facelift was beneficial to such a highly trafficked area adjacent to the Berkshire Mall.
D&B Construction has been engaged by the Developer (Riverfront at Royersford, LLC) as the General Contractor for this state-funded RACP Grant Project for the scope of work required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). In our role as General Contractor on this Project, we started top soil removal, existing concrete foundation removal and mass grading during the first week of October 2022. This limited scope of work, which entails bringing elevations of the existing grade out of the 100-year flood plain on this four-acre space, is anticipated to be complete in the beginning of December. Extensive permitting has taken place with the required agencies so the site elevation will be appropriately raised to withstand any issues.
Once complete, this project will be a mixed-use facility that features a combination of multi-family apartment living by the river, supported by commercial retail space at grade level, which will offer entertainment and restaurant opportunities. The Riverfront at Royersford, LLC’s goal for this space is to bring life back to the river at what was once the industrial brownfield sites. This LLC is comprised of Lewis Environmental’s President, Rick Lewis, and The Commonwealth Group’s Vice President, Don Robitzer.
According to Rick Lewis, “This process has been 10 years in the making… We work here, we live here, we want it to be great for everyone.” The trestle bridge connects two counties and three municipalities, and the hope of this re-imagined space is to attract recreational boating and other uses for the Schuylkill River. A riverside lounge with a 15,000 SF riverfront deck will make way for music and various uses, accompanied by a beautiful riverfront setting with direct access to the Schuylkill River Trail System. The commercial retail opportunities will span in availability from 1,000 SF to 10,000 SF, and the apartments will offer studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and loft options just minutes from Routes 422 and 724.
D&B Construction is working with client, Berger Development Services, LLC, once more to complete ground-up construction on an additional four-story residential apartment building at their property located in Doylestown, PA. The current building has 97 units with commercial space below. Once complete, the new building we are constructing will house 50 units, with a variety of different apartment layouts to choose from. The Reserve at Gring’s Mill is set in a picturesque pocket of Berks County, bordered by county park systems and rails to trails. Centrally located to all major highways, this complex boasts 10 buildings with 21 one and two bedroom units per building. At the beginning of June 2021, D&B Construction started construction on Reico Kitchen & Bath’s Pennsylvania showroom. This project involved moving to available commercial space next door to the client's current location in King of Prussia. The new space includes a modern showroom, 13 offices, a meeting space, two bathrooms and an updated employee breakroom. We had our client moved in and ready for their Open House in under five months. Employees' favorite part of their upgraded space? The flow and movement of the re-designed showroom, which holds 23 kitchen and bath displays.
Reico Kitchen & Bath has over 20 showrooms throughout Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, and North Carolina. The company began in 1952, distributing plywood and hardboard from Finland to the Baltimore – Washington area. D&B Construction is managing the construction of a mixed use design-build project for The Commonwealth Group. We broke ground in August of 2021. The complex is located in Chester County and will feature space for up to eight tenants on the ground floor. This retail and commercial space is for lease and seeking businesses that "will add value to the community." The project also features two floors of multi-family space, which will be composed of 24 garden style one- and two-bedroom luxury apartments. The apartment units will range in size from 910 SF to 1,152 SF and to be ADA compliant. D&B Construction was trusted to build a clubhouse from the ground up for Willowbrook Apartments, a multi-family community located in Delaware County. The Willowbrook Clubhouse brings luxurious amenities to all of this apartment complex’s residents. It features a swimming pool, gym, large community room and two porches for relaxing, with handicap accessibility in mind. Six offices were also included in the design of this building, along with a waiting / gallery area, spacious conference room, and two restrooms.
The Willowbrook Clubhouse is owned and operated by Berger Rental Communities, a real estate rental agency headquartered in Chester County. This project broke ground in June of 2020 and was completed in 8 months.
D&B Construction recently handed the keys over to Tower Health's newest Family Medicine satellite office in Womelsdorf, PA. Conveniently located along Route 422, this new healthcare facility features 15 exam rooms, 2 procedural rooms, and a lab with 3 designated draw rooms. Highlights of this medical office building also include a conference and education room with multimedia, centralized nursing stations, as well as clinical and administrative offices. The development of this property was completed by Motus Equities, a privately-held commercial real estate investment and development company headquartered in Reading Pennsylvania.
D&B Construction was trusted to complete this medical fit out on the Main Line in Philadelphia. This project involved an interior demo of the tenant’s existing office space, including all floor finishes, ceilings, mechanicals and interior partitions. It also included the installation of underground utilities for restrooms and ancillary sinks for specific in-house operations. Over 50 exam rooms, medical specific rooms, and offices made up this project, along with a staff lounge and conference room.
Safety and efficiency were top of mind with the inclusion of a high level of radiology protection in glazing, doors and wall partitions. Medical grade millwork and acoustic ceilings, wall protection, sound dampening for specific rooms, FRP, and more were also included. Aesthetics were not overlooked, as you will find a high level of detail in all finishes with light trough soffits and detailed accent paint features.
The success of this project led to more projects with our client, Cardiology Consultants of Philadelphia, for many of their other locations, including projects currently in pre-construction like for the Lansdale location.
D&B Construction reconstructed an old beverage distributor into a contemporary medical office for Penn State Health St. Joseph during this full medical fit out in Muhlenberg Township. Full exterior and interior transformations took place to convert this location into an fully functioning Urgent Care facility and Outpatient / Primary Care doctor's office. Highlights from this fit out include a laboratory, multiple exam rooms, conference rooms, waiting rooms and offices. The Muhlenberg Outpatient Center offers many services, from EKG and X-ray capabilities to physical therapy.
